World’s tallest sandcastle unveiled in Denmark last week has been included in the new Guinness World Records.
The creation beats out the previous biggest sandcastle in Germany by more than 10 feet, according to Guinness World Records.
The sandcastle built in Blokhus is pyramid-shaped and a wooden structure was made around it.
The town is in North Jutland, Denmark.

Key Features :

  • The sandcastle measuring 21.6 metres high (69.4 feet) has been built up with 4,860 tonnes of sand.
  • The sandcastle is made up of 10% clay and a layer of glue was applied in order for it to stick together better.

Facts :

  • It is 3.5 meter taller than the one built in Germany in 2019.
  • Wilfred Stijger along with the world’s 30 best sand sculptors built the sandcastle.

China launched the new Fengyun-3E ( FY-3E ), world’s first meteorological satellite from the SLS-2 launch site at China Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre.
The satellite had launched onboard the Long March 4C carrier rocket, which placed it in to it’s planned orbit.
This was the 377th flight mission of the Long March rocket series, according to the China National Space Administration.

Fengyun 3-E Satellite :

  • The FY-3E is the fifth in the series and the third operational satellite.
  • Equipped with 11 remote sensing payloads, FY-3E will be the world’s first meteorological satellite in early morning orbit for civil service.
  • It is Operated by the China Meteorological Administration and the National Satellite Meteorological Center.
  • Fengyun 3E had a launch mass of approximately 2,250 kg and a three year guaranteed orbital lifetime.
  • It will maintain a field of view of the ground that stretches across 3,000 km.
  • The satellite is designed for an eight year lifespan.

Main obtainance :

  • It will mainly obtain atmospheric temperature, humidity and other meteorological parameters for prediction applications, all to improve China’s weather forecasting capabilities.
  • The satellite will also monitor solar and space environments and their effects, as well as ionospheric data to meet the needs of space weather forecasts and supporting services.

Britain based tech company One Web sent 36 satellites in to orbit on 1 July 2021.
The satellites were blasted in to orbit by a Soyuz rocket.
The rocket bore the message ” Hello North Pole ” on it.

  • OneWeb was fully-funded and had secured $2.4 billion (roughly Rs. 17,950 crores) in total.
  • It listed the United Kingdom, Alaska, Northern Europe, Greenland, Iceland, continental US, the Arctic Seas, and Canada as areas that should be offered full connectivity.
  • OneWeb, which has more than 200 satellites in orbit as part of push to provide a global Internet service, said the launch from Russia’s Far East would allow it to offer connectivity everywhere north of 50 degrees latitude.

The U.S has announced an additional USD 41 million assistance to help India respond to the Covid-19 pandemic and in preparedness to overcome third wave.
This takes the total aid to more than USD 200 million.

Why this help?

  • In last months , India struggled with the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic with about more than 3,00,000 daily new cases.
  • This leads to shortage of medical oxygen and beds in hospitals.
  • The additional assistance will support access to Covid-19 testing, pandemic-related mental health services, timely referrals to medical services, and access to healthcare in remote areas, the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

Key highlights :

  • The agency said the US assistance to India is now up to $200 million with an additional $500 million more in emergency supplies and training for more than 214,000 frontline health workers in infection prevention and control, benefitting more than 42 million Indians.
  • Through this additional funding, USAID will continue to partner with India to strengthen healthcare supply chains and electronic health information systems, support its vaccination efforts, and mobilise and coordinate private sector relief.
  • In May, President Biden announced $100 million worth of COVID-19 assistance to India.

Minister of Heave Industries and Public Enterprises Prakash Javedkar on 29 June 2021, inaugurated Asia’s longest high speed test track located in Pithampur, Indore.
The National Automotive Test Tracks ( NATRAX ) facility measures 11.3 km in length.
The track is longest in Asia and 5th largest in world.

Location :

  • It is located near the vibrant industrial township of Pithampur (District Dhar), which is 50 km from the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh i.e. Indore, situated on NH-3 By-Pass Road (Indore– Mumbai).
  • The center has been developed in approx 3,000 acres of land.

Features :

  • The longest speed track by NATRAX has a total of 10 tracks, designed keeping in mind to test vehicles in every possible terrain condition.
  • It is The 300m Steering pad is connected by a long vehicle dynamics test area of 1500 m length.
  • NATRAX offers 14 different types of testing tracks that include braking track, fatigue track, comfort track, handling track, gradient track, sustainability track, among others.
  • This track has mu range from 0.15 to 0.9 with various surfaces like Basalt, Ceramic, High friction asphalt, Polish concrete. ABS tests, high-speed brake test, tire performance evaluation, etc.
  • The vehicles can achieve a max speed of 375 Kmph on curves with steering control and it has less banking on ovals, making it also one of the safest test tracks globally.

T20 World Cup 2021 : T20 World cup moves to UAE by BCCI

The International Cricket Council has confirmed that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will be held in UAE and Oman because of the ongoing COVID-19 situation in India.
The tournament will take place from October 17 till November 14, 2021, and BCCI will retain the hosting rights.
  • India was handed the hosting rights in 2021 and Australia was chosen as host for the 2022 edition.
  • Interim ICC chief executive Geoff Allardice said: “Our priority is to deliver the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 safely, in full and in its current window.
  • BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla said the qualifiers may take place in Oman while the rest of the matches will be at three UAE venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

IPL updates

  • The IPL was also held in the UAE last year.
  • The BCCI had already moved the suspended Indian Premier League to the UAE in September-October after the T20 tournament was halted on May 4 due to a number of players and team officials being infected with COVID-19.

International Solar Alliance : Greece joins ISA headed by India

Greece has signed agreement on the International Solar Alliance ( ISA ) to India.

  • The agreement was signed during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to Greece.
  • During the visit, Jaishankar also unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Athens on June 26.
  • The statue will act as a strong symbol of friendship between the two countries.

Solar Alliance :
